| > A region offering a huge variety of quality produce |

Local cuisine is an important part of the Landes lifestyle. There are many quality products, and these are admirably highlighted by the region's cuisine.

Duck and goose "foie gras" are the pride and joy of Landes cuisine, either canned or cooked fresh, with grapes or apples. Then there is the famous "confit", duck or goose preserved in its own fat, and "magret", fillets of fatted duck, to enjoy grilled or cooked in a sauce.
Landes free-range chicken is also very popular. The maize-fed poultry, raised outdoors, produce succulent, tasty meat and are easily recognisable by their yellow colour.
Shad, elver, salmon, and eels are caught in Landes rivers.
Chalosse cattle, a cross between Limousine and Blonde d'Aquitaine breeds, are famous for their tender, tasty beef. The cattle are raised in the traditional Chalosse manner, with plenty of straw litter, corn meal and lush pastures.
| > Armagnac and Landes wine |
Winegrowers in the Landes produce the best wines in Tursan and Chalosse, as well as Bas-Armagnac, using the best traditional methods.

Asparagus and kiwis from the Landes are among the best in Europe. They are excellent examples of the top quality produce grown in the Landes department.
