The department concentrates its activities on industrial and craft-based development well as tourism. It aims to consolidate its "strong sectors" and develop new business through subsidies for business creation and modernisation.
Economic Development Department
This department is made up of 11 people including 6 chargés de mission (official representatives) and 4 secretaries, the Landes General Council's Economic Development Department is a main contact for companies in creation or development.
Main role:
Process applications for business and job creation subsidies from investors (land use planning subsidies, regional and departmental subsidies, exemptions from social contributions and tax)
Collect the finances necessary for the company's project (Bank of France, regional development company, financial institutions)
Search for suitable solutions for companies in difficulty (CODEFI, CORRI, and the obtaining of refundable advances)
Prospect for new businesses (DATAR correspondent, participation in the Invest in France network)
Propose sites suitable for investors' requirements, handle and support the carrier of the project.
Liaison between the companies in creation or development and other public (State, region, Commune) and private (banks, consultancies, local businesses) partners
Management of an economic resource and information centre (statistics, financial databases, support and encouragement procedures, European programmes)
Promotion of the department's economic assets (publication of brochures, CD-ROM, promotion in the economic press)
Sectors of activity:
Local development and tourism: hotels-restaurants, camp sites and rural gîtes, public and private tourist facilities. European programmes: information and co-ordination of campaigns, FDAR.
Industry and crafts: economic business zones, industrial and craft companies, tracking ORAC procedures and "cœur de Pays", SCOP, traditional fishing.
